Too little, Too late!

It's that time of year again when most of us suddenly turn our attentions to how we might look on our holiday! I promised myself this time last year( and all the previous years) that I would at least try and lose a little weight and 'tone up', in readiness for uncovering what is mostly covered throughout the year. I looked at the picture (left) and thought 'Yes, I could look ok in my cozie. Some things might be 'slipping' a bit, but that's normal isn't it?' But nothing seems to have happened. Maybe it could be down to still eating the same foods, and not exercising any more than normal right up until about 2 weeks ago! Then the panic set in. Needless to say I think I am probably better represented by the picture below!

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the break away. 2 weeks of peace here I come!

Inner Peace?

I am passing this on to you because it definitely worked for me, and we could all do with a little calm in our lives once in a while.

By following this simple advice I read in an article, I have finally found inner peace.

The article reads:

"The way to achieve inner peace is to finish off all the things you have started".

So I looked round the house to see all the things I had started and hadn't finished.

Before doing anything else this morning, I finished off a bottle of red wine, a bottle of white wine, the Baileys, three Bacardi Breezers, the Jack Daniels, the Prozac, the Valium, half a cheesecake and a box of Terry's All Gold.

You have no idea how bloody good I feel.

Questions From the Toothfairy

The Toothfairy has asked me these 5 questions. The rules are below. Read on

1) What was your most embarrassing moment?
Walking into a meeting early, sitting down, and then realising that I was in completely different meeting to the one I was supposed to be in. My meeting was in the next room down, and I'd walked in on a high powered meeting with the Chief Fire Officer and his Assistant Chief Officers. Good job I've know him for 25 years plus, but I still felt stupid none the less!

2) Favourite Big Brother housemate and why?
Kemal. Camp guys always bring a smile to my face. He was such a 'queen' in every sense of the word. And his entry & exit outfits - 'Fabulous Darling'!

3) How old do you want to be before u become a grandma?
45 onwards! (Are you fishing or trying to tell me something?)

4) Biggest regret?
Combining 2 households into one (ie selling my parents house & ours to buy one). Seemed like a good idea at the time, but it's pretty well destroyed my relationship with my Mom. Just have to let things go by and get on with living our lives. Hopefully things will improve with time.

5) Favourite song of all time and why?
You'll probably think I'm really sad but it's Dancing Queen by Abba, cos it reminds me of my very first job at the age of 16. (I was a post girl for a large factory - e-mail didn't exist back then!) My friend (the company switchboard operator) and I sang it on stage with a band at the factory christmas do! We were probably rubbish, but we had a great time! Can't help but sing along when I hear it still.

Rules

1) Leave me a comment saying interview me please.

2) I will respond by asking you five questions (not the same five I answered).

3) You will update your blog/site with the interview questions.

4) You will include this explanation and offer to interview someone else in the same post.

5) When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

Impending Doom #2

This morning at 0930hrs, all UK Fire Brigade Control Staff were informed of the locations for the new regional control centres.

http://www.firecontrol.odpm.gov.uk/

My region will be made up of staff from 5 counties ie: Staffordshire, Shropshire, Hereford & Worcester, Warwickshire & my brigade West Midlands.

We have been told that our regions' centre will be located at http://www.wolverhamptonbusinesspark.co.uk/ The Wolverhampton Business Park, near Junction 2 M54.

For me, thats a round trip of 108 miles a shift! (My poor little MX5 won't know whats hit it)

Oh well, the proposed move won't be happening until 2008/2009, so lets hope that it goes beyond that and it'll be time for me to retire!

I'll keep you posted!

Impending Doom!

Well. It's finally happening. The Governments' Office of the Deputy Prime Minister are finally announcing the locations of the 'so called' new Regional Fire Control Centres tomorrow morning at 0930hrs.

This has been postponed on numerous occasions.

Very briefly, it will mean that each Fire Brigade will no longer have it's own Control Room. There will only be 9 centres covering the whole of England & Wales.

If you should be unfortunate enough to have to dial 999 in the event of fire or an accident, please be sure of your exact location - ie street name, town, any landmarks etc, because you may well be speaking to someone who does not know the area as they are probably 50 miles away or more!!! Local knowledge will count for nothing!
(but what do we know?)

Many of us around the country may well be losing our jobs through the re-structure.

Hold on tight, as this may be a bumpy ride!

Ferrari News Flash

The Ferrari Formula 1 Team fired their entire pit crew yesterday.

The Announcement followed Ferrari's decision to take advantage of the UK Government's Youth Opportunity scheme and employ people from Liverpool. The decision to hire them was brought on by a recent documentary on how unemployed youths from Liverpool were able to remove a set of wheels in less than 6 seconds without proper equipment, whereas Ferrari's existing crew can only do it in 8 seconds with millions of Euro's worth of high tech equipment.
Tony Blair went on record as saying this was a bold move by the Ferrari management, which demonstrated the international recognition of the UK under New Labour. As most races are won and lost in the pits, Ferrari now has an advantage over every team.

However, Ferrari may have got more than they bargained for.

At the team's first practice session, the Liverpool pit crew successfully changed the tyres in under 6 seconds, and then within 12 seconds they had re-sprayed, re-badged, and sold the vehicle to the McLaren team for 8 bottles of Stella, a kilo of speed and some photos of Coulthard's bird in the shower !!

(No offence intended to those of you from Liverpool!)
